Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy chairman Yasin Aktay said that Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and FETO, an abbreviation coined by the government circles to refer to the sympathizers of Gülen Movement within state institutions, are crusader organizations that are fed by the same people and are serving to the same purpose.
Speaking with the heads of human rights and civil society organizations in Diyarkır on Sunday, Aktay said that there is a ready audience in Europe who will buy every terrorist action of PKK as an action of struggle for independence and freedom.
“The west is ready to buy each absurd action of these [PKK, ISIL and FETO] organizations. This does not show that they are right. In the contrary, it shows that the west is collaborating with them,” Aktay said.
He also added that “It is obvious today that PKK; DEAŞ (Arabic acronym of ISIL) and FETO are crusader organizations. They don’t serve to the purposes they publicize, but serve to a common purpose.”
The AK Party government and President Tayyip Erdoğan accuse Gülen movement of masterminding the failed coup on July 15.
Following Aktay’s remarks, President Erdoğan’s spokesman İbrahim Kalın rejected Turkey had ever provided weapons to anyone in Syria.
