Gülen’s former lawyer sentenced to 12 years in jail

Feti Ün, an Izmir lawyer who represented Fethullah Gulen from 1990 to 1994, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on charges of membership to a terrorist organization.

The court in charge initially ruled for 8-year jail time and then increased the imprisonment by half to 12 years in compliance with the anti-terror laws.

Under pretrial detention since Nov 11, 2016, Ün admitted that he represented Gulen between 1990 to 1994 but rejected the accusations of membership to a terrorist organization.

According to media, Ün was also retained by the Kule Printing House where the now-defunct Zaman newspaper used to be printed, before it was shut down by the government.
