Former daily Zaman reporter Ayşenur Parıldak was arrested on Thursday for being followed by the notorious Turkish whistleblower Fuat Avni on Twitter, who has previously revealed the details of a number of police and judicial operations before they happened through social media.
A penal court of peace in the capital Ankara has ruled for the arrest of the journalist.
Fuat Avni is a secretive Twitter user who claims to be a government whistleblower and follows Parıldak on Twitter. Avni has a credible record of uncovering corruption and irregularities rampant among the government officials. He claims to be in the inner circle of President Erdoğan.
