Turkish-Dutch businessman Ali Ekrem Kaynak was shot dead in Amsterdam on Sept 11 while a local source claimed that his links to the Gulen movement may be behind the shooting.
The 48-year-old Turkish expat, who was attacked in head last year too, was gunned down in front of an Amsterdam branch of his fast food chain, Halaal Fried Chicken late on Monday.
Following the shooting Kaynak’s employees took him to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, caused by several bullets.
Local news outlet Het Parool said the argument was about Turkish politics according to sources.
Hasan Cücük, former Denmark reporter of Turkey’s seized newspaper Zaman earlier said that Kaynak was a follower of the Gulen movement while Het Parool said that the assailant, a former co-owner of Halaal Fried Chicken, is a fan of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan accuses the Gulen group of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt but the movement denies involvement.
